The Council District 4 Community Coalition is a unified voice for the residents of Charlotte District 4, working to improve quality of life, and empower all members of our diverse community. We recognize the historical barriers like redlining and restrictive covenants that have limited opportunities for people of color in the housing market. Today, we are committed to building generational wealth through homeownership, community investment, and thoughtful development. By partnering with developers, capping rental units, and limiting ownership concentration, we protect neighborhoods while fostering stability and participation.
Our Mission: To build a stronger, inclusive District 4 by advocating for fair housing, sustainable growth, and community participation, while providing tools and opportunities for residents to thrive and shape their future.
A developer is asking the City of Charlotte to rezone the property from IC-1 (Institutional Campus 1) to IC-2(EX) (Institutional Campus 2 with an approved exception). This would allow a denser, more urban-style campus development than what IC-1 currently permits. The EX means the request includes specific exceptions or customized standards tied to the project.
TreesCharlottes mission is to grow and protect Charlottes urban tree canopy by partnering with the community to plant and care for trees. They work with residents, schools, and organizations to increase tree coverage and promote environmental stewardship across the city.
