CD4 Coalition Calls On Rep. Mia Love, Congress To ‘Do Your Job’ For DACA Dreamers [Press Release]

Get back to the work of protecting Dreamers, and stop using them as political pawns. That’s the message members of Utah’s CD4 Coalition (CD4C) plan to send Rep. Mia Love today at noon today outside her West Jordan office.

Following failed funding-bill negotiations in the Senate, a federal government shutdown officially began at midnight EST on Saturday, January 20, 2018. Among those most directly impacted by the shutdown are over 700,000 young immigrants who are part of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program – undocumented innocents who face deportation after the March 5 deadline if no solution is reached.

“We are tired of the finger-pointing and the political brinksmanship,” said Andrew Graft, CD4C spokesperson. “Friday’s impasse over widely supported immigration policies is a failure by our country’s leadership to finish the job they’ve been elected to do.”

Recently, Love exchanged barbs on Twitter over shutdown negotiations with a potential challenger to her reelection in November. “Congresswoman Love should spend less time bickering on social media and more time persuading her colleagues to protect the lives of over 10,000 undocumented friends, neighbors and co-workers right here in Utah,” said Graft.

Citizens of Utah’s Fourth Congressional District are encouraged to show their support by joining members of the CD4C at 12:00 pm today (January 22, 2018) outside Love’s West Jordan headquarters, located at 9067 South 1300 West.
